There's something about this week after Labor Day that always spells busyness in my home office. After a summer of barely keeping things together as we work from home and balance family and kids home from school, the "back to school" season also marks a return to a more serious work schedule.
I find myself in a transitional time this year due to a few factors
- My youngest son is about to go college, leaving my husband and I "empty nesters"
- I'm beginning work this week on the manuscript for my third book
- I leave in October for a trip to Rwanda for a journalism fellowship, which will be an adventure of a lifetime but will also mean a serious hit to my work-related productivity next month
- I'm in negotiations to bring a college intern on board, which means extra help, but also supervision and mentoring time
I share this here on the blog to give myself the mental pep-talk needed to get myself organized and working. I know that I have the time needed to accomplish all that is on my plate. The challenge is using that time efficiently.
A question for you: What are some of your challenges this Fall as we begin a new school year?
