Hi everyone. For those of you who have faithfully remained subscribed to Productivty @ Home, thanks for your patience with my lack of posting over the past several months. Looking back at my last post, I realize that it coincided with the launch of my book, The Handbook for Catholic Moms: Nurturing Your Heart, Mind, Body, and Soul.
I remember at the time, back in February, thinking I would have a rush of activity for a month as the book was launching and then that things would get back to "normal" (whatever that is). I've now come to terms with the fact that "normal" as I knew it before no longer exists. So much has changed in my life since last February. A few updates include:
- The launch of my book - Wow, what can I say about the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. It continues to sell well, but the most satisfying part of the entire experience has been the joy of meeting or hearing from women who have read and been touched by my book. Each of these encounters is pure joy and a reaffirmation of the time spent in putting the project together.
- Speaking Opportunities - For the past several months, I've had the good fortune to be invited to speak around the country to women's groups, churches, conferences and other organizations large and small. I've discovered that I absolutely love public speaking. I am working hard to sharpen my skills, but more importantly to provide a my best possible effort for every group who invites me. I am also learning to balance family commitments, professional responsibilities and an active travel schedule.
- Family Developments - This Fall, we launched our eldest son off to college. He is now a Freshman at Harvard and has begun to embrace all of the opportunities afforded to him in that wonderful environment. We miss him greatly, but are so proud of the fine young man he is becoming. And speaking of fine young men, his younger brother, a sophomore in high school, continues to keep mom plenty busy!
- A New Book - In September, I began work on my next book, a devotional for women based upon the lives of the saints. It is part personal reflection, part biography, part scripture study - it's been an amazing learning experience.
All of this has made me realize more than ever the importance of time management, personal productivity and healthy living in my own world. Most days, I fall short of the goals I set for myself. But I'm rarely without a plan! And each new day affords an opportunity to wake up and do better than the day before. I intend to get back to regularly blogging here and would love to hear from you on the topics you'd like to see discussed in the weeks and months ahead.
